Not sure where or when I noticed it but it was an attention-getter. Sitting
on the “throne” in the loo at one of Peter’s domiciles, I noticed the
collection of articles that covered the bathroom door. The closed door
was located a few feet in front of the seat so the occupant could easily be
diverted.
After looking at a few random articles, my attention was drawn to one with
a headline of “Peter R. Decker Deceased”. The source of the article was
our college fraternity announcing that Peter had passed away. I left the
article in its place and inquired from the “deceased”, why had the
announcement of his demise occurred?
With a typical twinkle in his eye, he explained that he was sick and tired of
getting requests for donations from the fraternity so he had announced his
demise which had the result he desired: no more requests for money from
Chi Psi.
